Fried Plantain

Fried plantain is a simple yet delicious dish enjoyed throughout Africa and the Caribbean. Ripe plantains are sliced and fried until golden brown, creating a naturally sweet and comforting side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe plantains
  • 3 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Pinch of salt

Method

  1. Peel the plantains and slice them diagonally.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Place the plantain slices in the hot oil.
  4. Fry for about 2–3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Sprinkle a small pinch of salt if desired.
  7. Serve warm.
