Benin Spicy Grilled Chicken

Benin spicy grilled chicken is a flavorful dish seasoned with aromatic spices and grilled until juicy and slightly smoky. This recipe brings bold African flavors and pairs beautifully with rice or fried plantains.

Ingredients

  • 2 chicken thighs or chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp chili powder
  • ½ tsp thyme
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Juice of ½ lemon

Method

  1. In a bowl mix oil, garlic, paprika, chili powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  2. Rub the marinade over the chicken pieces.
  3. Let the chicken marinate for about 15 minutes.
  4. Preheat the grill or grill pan.
  5. Grill the chicken for about 7–8 minutes on each side until fully cooked.
  6. Remove from heat and allow to rest for a few minutes.
  7. Serve warm with rice or vegetables.
